Adam Weir

Dr. Adam Weir is een Britse sportarts die zijn opleiding heeft genoten aan de University of Newcastle upon Tyne in Engeland. Hij verhuisde in 2001 naar Nederland om daar zijn specialisatie verder te zetten en behaalde in 2011 zijn PhD (topic: The treatment of Groin Injuries) aan Universiteit van Utrecht. Daarna (2013) verliet hij Nederland om te gaan werken in Doha als Deputy head of Aspetar SportsGroin Pain Centre. In die functie was hij ook de hoofdauteur van de ‘Doha Agreement on terminology and Definitions in Groin Pain in Athletes’.

Intussen is hij teruggekeerd naar Rotterdam en daar vervult hij de rol van medische coördinator van het Erasmus UZ - Academic Centre for Groin Injuries. Tevens is hij actief in de Sports & Exercise Clinic in Haarlem.

Zijn interesse ligt in de integratie van educatie in de sportgeneeskunde en hij publiceerde meerdere artikels in verschillende sportmedische wetenschappelijke tijdschriften. Tenslotte is hij ook nog associate editor van het British Journal Of Sports Medicine.
